Teen auto insurance


Anna Paguin : Toyota has been having a lot of issues and hence I am wondering if from the insurance point of view do they have any tips for which are the unsafe cars from teen auto insuarnce perspective or young drivers safety.

Teen auto insurance can be cheaper car insurance if teen safety is there.
Response : Anna a very interesting and intellegent question. You will be happy to know that the general auto insurnace companies do take a lot of time and money and also collobrate with social organizations to help reduce the auto accidents. In fact they have the NHTSA which is the National Highway Traffic safety association which they spport to conduct safety of all on the road. This association is continously carrying on test along with the IIHS on the cars.

Seconldy, you need to understand that the insurance industry also base their basic car insurance rates on the type of car and this is decided among various factors most importantly the safety of the vehicle since if it is safe the chances of a person getting seriously injured or having a fatal crash are less and this reduces the cost of the auto insurance claims. The lesser the amount of claim expnese the cheaper car inusrance quotes for this type of vehicle. Secondly the cost of insurance is also dependent on the cost of repairs for a vehicle or the time taken to repair a vehicle. If this is higher than naturally the car insurnace claims expense would be increased and this is than loaded to the client.

Now, you understand the logic let me inform you about some cars which are considered not within the safety standards from the safety prupose and this is as per the NHSTA and the IIHS safety test :

Kia Rio

The 2010 Rio hasn’t been tested by the insurance industry yet. However, the 2009 model received low ratings. In front-end crash and roof strength tests, it received the second-best rating of “acceptable.” In side- and rear-impact tests, it was rated “poor,” the lowest score. However, in rollover tests, the Rio earned a four-star rating, meaning it has only an 11% chance of a rollover in a single-vehicle crash. Worst: Scion tC

The Toyota Scion tC may have earned five stars for driver protection and four stars for front passenger protection, but those sitting in the back might not have as much luck. The backseat airbags are considered “marginal” by the IIHS. The Scion tC comes with antilock disc brakes, a driver knee airbag, front-side airbags, full-length head curtain airbags and claims to have an “impact-absorbing body.” When it comes to emergency handling, the risk of crashing is 20% to 30%.

Dodge Dakota

The Dodge Dakota pickup falls short when it comes to handling. In Consumer Reports tests, the Dakota received a “marginal” rating. The vehicle lacks traction control, a standard feature in most cars. Some extra safety features are optional, such as supplemental side airbags that cover the two rows, side-curtain airbags and antilock brakes.
