Teen auto insurance


Angelina :The teen auto insurance for my teenage girls have increased? I thought that the teen auto insurance rates for girls was much lower than that of the teenage boys.

Response : Angelina, you would be suprised to note that as per the latest suurvey conduted by leading insurance company Alstate has revealed astonishing facts that the girls are speeding more than boys.

Are teenage girls catching up on teen auto insurance rates with the boys? Girls express a new need for speed.
• Nearly half (48%) of girls admit they are likely to speed more than 10 m.p.h. over the limit, versus 36% of boys
• 16% of girls describe their driving as aggressive, up from 9% in 2005

Another interesting statastics is :
Overall, the U.S. Department of Transportation says 4,054 teenagers aged 13 to 19 died in auto accidents (as both passengers and drivers) in 2008, down 54% from 1975. Boys account for about two-thirds of teens killed in vehicle accidents, but the DOT says deaths among boys have declined 59% since 1975, faster than the 38% decline for girls.

This all leads to the fact that the insurance companies who continously analysising the auto accidents which lead to their auto insurance claims and adjusting the auto insurance premiums based on their findings and claims ratio.
