Howie Schultz :This has reference with teen auto insurance. If you drive on a learners permit without an adult in the car and get in an accident will auto insurance pay for the damages?

Response : Howie, if a teenager is driving a car with a learners permit without an adult in the car than the insurance company will not cover you provided you are a named driver on your parents policy. Secondly most insurance policies have an exclsuion stating that the learner cannot drive the car without supervison. However, it would depend on your carrier and if you go to the court of law, than the insurance company will atleast have to pay the auto insurance liability but can deny the car insurance damges since the insurance company can state the exclusion that the driving license was not there. Here you will have to remember that when you go to the court of law, you will have to pay whatever the DMV penalty prevails in your state about breaking the law and driving the car without supervision.

If your parents have not covered you than you than the insurance company will not pay since you are not covered under the policy and your parents and you will have to pay for the liabiltiy out of your pocket.
It is most advisable to break the rules, since teen auto insurance is rated as a high risk and by doing this, your car insurance rate will always hike up. Shop around for cheap teen auto insurance quote, drive safe and do not break the rules.

Jeff Johnson: I am looking for a car for my teenaged son. Can you give me any hints as to which would be the least expensive to be insured.

Response: When looking for teen auto insurance quote, first find out which are the least expensive vehicles to be insured since this is something you have control over. Every year, organizations like the Insurance Institute for Highway safety, and companies like Insure.com compile and analyze data from consumers and individual insurers around the country, in order to provide the public with information like which cars are cheapest to own, or safest to drive.

For 2009, the top five in the least expensive cars to insurelist are all relatively inexpensive SUVs and minivans, and similar models round out the top ten (with the exception of a single SmartCar). This is based on important factor in the cost of insurance is the cost of likely repairs. Cars which are hybrids, with their new and extremely specific technology, cost more to repair than even the largest cars with traditional gasoline engines. The small cars, with their lack of crumple zones, are more likely to be declared total losses in the event of a crash. SUVs and Minivans, on the other hand, are built to survive rugged conditions and/or protect families. They’re pretty tough to destroy.

Here’s the list, with their average annual insurance The prices shown are US national averages:
Vehicle MSRP Average Cost of Insurance
Hyundai Santa Fe $21,695 $832
Kia Sportage $16,695 $840
Hyundai Entourage $23,395 $848
Kia Sedona $21,245 $857
Kia Rio5 $13,325 $870
Honda Odyssey $26,355 $871
Chrysler Town & Country $26,355 $871
Smart ForTwo $11,990 $881
Saturn Vue $23,380 $911
Mazda Tribute $19,730 $913

I have already given the list for the 2010 cars which were declared as safe models by the Insurance Institute and so you can go to that list. The average price of insurance will be comming quite shortly. This will give you an idea as to what car to buy, but shop around for cheap car insurance quotes.

Tony Robins: Thanks for your sports car insurance tips. I know that sports car are expensive to insurer and teen auto insurance rates are high, but I was just curious to know which are the most expensive cars to insure other than sports cars ?

Response: Yes, you are right on the first count of teen auto insurance and sports cars being expensive to insure. A very interesting questions. Let me tell you that in USA two factors influence the cost of auto insurance are the size which is reffered to as the power of the engine, and the way the car will be driven. This means that sports cars, with their high horsepower, are more expensive to insure than the tiniest Toyota. This is because of the higher price tags that the sports car have, which makes auto insurance very expensive for the sports cars.

Every year, organizations like the Insurance Institute for Highway safety, and companies like Insure.com compile and analyze data from consumers and individual insurers around the country, in order to provide the public with information like which cars are cheapest to own, or safest to drive. These cars are most expensive to insure mainly because their parts are either expensive to replace and secondly their repair cost are higher. Except the sports cars the most expensive cars to insure are given below:

Vehicle MSRP Average Cost of Insurance
Nissan GT-R $79,090 $2,533
Dodge Viper SRT-10 $88,590 $2,446
BMW M6 $102,100 $2,236
Ford Shelby GT500 $43,125 $2,186
Mercedes G-Class $100,250 $2,088

This information will prove very valuable, if cost matter to you so that you can take the right decision before you buy a car. Remember that you can always get cheaper teen auto and cheaper car insurance quotes by looking for the auto discounts and opting for the right coverages.

Cost of auto insurance would not and will not deter teenagers and their parents giving them the gift of a sports car and enjoying the sports cars, the most important factor other than insurance is the teenagers safety.

Teen auto insurance tips for sports car insurance.

Sports car- Ferrar- sports car insurance quote
Tony Robinns: Christmas is round the corner and my sons birthday is in December. I want him to buy a sports car – a Ford Mustang or a Ferrari or a Lamborghin. Someone was telling me that the teen auto insurance quotes for sports car is very high. Is it true and any tips would be appreciated.

Response: Tony, I am glad that you are thinking of gifting a sports car to your son. A Ferrari seems to be a handsome choice. Well, teen auto insurance quotes and car insurance rates are very high for any car. When you are gifting the sports car, I know that you are prepared for a high car insurance premium. This is a reality and no one can claim that they can get cheap rates with a combination of a teenager and a sports car since both are perceived as high risk by the auto insurance or car insurance companies.

Now without wasting much of your time, here are a few tips which can help you in getting a good auto insurance rate for the Ferrari.
1) Ensure that your son has a good credit rating and maintains this, since auto insurance rates are linked with credit.
2) Your teen’s driving record is very important. A clean driving record will go a long way in saving auto insurance premium even for sports cars. Talk to him and ask him to stay away from drunk driving, agreessive driving and distractions.
3) Shop around for the best insurance rates since a little bit of research will certainly go a long way. Each insurance company differs in their rating philosphy and so you can certainly find a good insurance quote by comparing the auto insurance quotes.
4) Review the auto insurance coverages and go for right car insurance coverages . The optimum limits and the optimum coverage should be the focus, since getting something good and befitting is the aim here.
5) Go for the speciality insurance companies since they offer better rates for higher risk.

I know your focus is getting the right auto insurance policy rather than cheap auto insurance policy and this will not be a big deal.
Enjoy your rides with your teenager! Have the thrill, speed and pleasure when the risk is passed on to the auto insurer.

Thanks.

Evan Chia: Do student drivers get cheap auto insurance quotes? At what age would a students driving insurance be reduced and they would qualify for a lower basic auto insurance rate?

Response: This is an excellent question. I am happy that the customers are becoming more and more aware of the auto insurance rating system. The basic auto insurance rate for the teen auto insurance is high, which means that the teen pays a high auto insurance premium even if they are students, mainly when they are between the ages of 16-25.

Once the student reaches 25 than the basic auto insurance rate or car insurance rate is slashed down and they can avail cheap auto insurance quotes. If one is a student having good grades than the student discount continues. The reason for this is statistically it has been proved that by the age of 25 one would reach a maturity and a good driving experience so that they can take mature decisions on the road. Experience and practice are the best teachers. The driving skills will be mastered by this age. Even if, you are a beginner young driver than the age of 25 will be the turning point and you would qualify for a cheap auto insurance quote.

However, if you are 25 or even if you are younger what you must not forget is to ensure a good driving history since this is going to be the biggest boaster for you in getting you cheap auto insurance quote, no matter what your age is. A clean driving record should be aimed at through out your driving history if you are to save on auto insurance quotes.

Enjoy your ride with cheap auto insurance.
