News on: Car Insurance in New Jersey
Taylor Swift : I live in New Jersey and am 19 years old. I find that the car insurance rates in New Jersey are very high. Please let me know why this is so and how I can obtain cheap auto insurance quotes for teenagers?
Response :Hey Taylor, I know that this is one of the major problems for teenagers. They want to desperately get behind the wheel and be independent, however the auto insurance or car insurance rates are very high and this is one of the major draw-back.
As far as New Jersey is concerned as per the latest news of today 3rd December 2009 : New Jersey is No. 2 when it comes to the nation’s highest auto insurance rates.Data in the National Association of Association of Insurance Commissioners’ annual report shows the average Garden State resident in 2007 paid just over $1,100, down 4 percent from the year before. Only Washington D.C. residents paid more for auto insurance.
The Star-Ledger of Newark and Record of Bergen County’s Statehouse Bureau reports New Jersey’s rates have fallen by 9.6 percent since their peak in 2004. Nationally, rates fell by 5.6 percent between 2004 and 2007. New Jersey, the nation’s most densely populated state, typically ranks at or near the top of the list of expensive places to insure a car. If the population is dense the chances of accident are higher and hence the rates are higher.
Secondly, the teenaged drivers are considered a higher risk and so the auto insurance rates for them are very high. Since you are a girl the rates for females will be much lower than insuring boys of this age since boys are thought to be irrational and immature drivers.
You can certainly get cheap auto insurance rates by shopping online, looking for discounts. Please see my article on Cheap Car insurance
