Car Insurance Important Elements-important for young drivers.

It is a known fact that for most drivers, having some amount and type of car insurance is an essential part of owning and operating a car or moving vehicle. Although a car insurance policy can be complex, there are several elements which are typically common to most of them. Let’s discuss this further.

Car insurance is designed to protect the occupants of a vehicle as well as those associated with an accident. This can be occupants in another car involved in the accident or even bystanders who happen to have the bad luck or being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A key type of coverage for car insurance is liability. This provides money to pay for damages from injury to people or property involved in the accident. If someone gets hurt and requires medical care, the liability coverage normally kicks in to take care of those expenses. It can also cover claims made against a driver for damages.

If drivers did not have this type of coverage, they could be personally responsible for claims made against them. This could certainly be financially devastating which is why this coverage is so important.

There are limits which can be set on the amount of liability coverage desired. Typically they can range from $10K up to $1000K or more depending on the vehicle and owners involved.

While liability coverage typically covers losses caused by injury, there are other types of coverage for damage to vehicles. Collision covers damage to a vehicle as a result of an accident. This type of coverage kicks in irregardless of the circumstances. It covers the cost of repair to a damaged vehicle and in some cases covers a full replacement of the vehicle. Most collision coverage includes a deductible meaning that the policy holder would be responsible for a portion of the repairs. Typical deductible amounts can range from $100 to $1,000 or more. The cost of the coverage is lower as the deductible increases so this is an important consideration.

Comprehensive coverage is for damage to a vehicle from things like vandalism. It can also cover replacement or repair to a windshield as a result of flying debris, etc. This coverage also carries a deductible so it’s important to consider this type of coverage carefully.

There are many other types of coverage as part of a car insurance policy. Your car insurance agent is best equipped to help explain these coverage options and make appropriate recommendations.

There are also many resources on the Internet which can help explain these coverages so you can better understand them and make well informed decisions.

auto insurance deductible Auto Insurance Deductibles: How Much Should Your Deductible Be?

auto insurance deductible

We would all like to save money when it comes to buying auto insurance, but, as my mother always told me, don’t be penny-wise and pound foolish.  If you have never purchased auto insurance before, or even if you have, you should be aware that one of the important decisions you will have to make is at what dollar amount to set your collision and comprehensive deductibles.  For these two types of coverage, the deductible amounts will be a determining factor in how much your premium is.

A central rule to remember with auto insurance is: the higher the deductible, the lower the premium–but the more you’ll pay out of pocket in case of a claim; the lower the deductible, the higher the premium–but the less you’ll fork over if you have an insured claim.

All auto insurance policies that cover collision and/or comprehensive have a deductible. The deductible is the part of your policy that you are responsible for paying. Auto insurance policies don’t simply take care of all of your damages or expenses. You are required to pay for some of the damages, but that amount depends on your deductible. Deductibles vary by state, but are most often in amounts of $100, $200, $500 or $1,000. How does it work?  If you are in an accident that causes $3000 worth of damage to your car, and your deductible is $500, you are required to pay the $500 and the insurance company will take care of the remaining $2,500.   If you carried a $100 deductible, you would pay the first $100, and then your insurance would pony up the remaining $2,400.

How to decide
It’s not always easy to decide how much you are willing to pay now (for your premium) versus later (for your deductible) should you need to make a claim.   Some of the factors to take into consideration are your:

•    income
•    credit
•    savings
•    comfort level
•    age of your car
•    driving history
•    premiums

Think about your household income, credit available and your personal savings. If you were to experience a car accident today- what amount of money would you feel comfortable paying as your deductible?  In other words, what do you have in the bank or available on your credit card, and how much can you get your hands on if you need to that won’t have a huge impact on you or your family?  If your current deductible is higher than that amount–make it lower! If you could easily afford to pay more–you might want to increase your deductible in order to lower auto premium.

Much of it has to do with risk.  Are you willing to take the risk by having a large deductible that you won’t have an accident, or if you do, that you’ll be prepared to cover that amount?  Are you comfortable with that, or are you going to fret over it?
So you see that which option you choose (high deductible/lower rates or low deductible/higher rates) will depend on what you can afford, but it also depends on how often you expect to need your insurance.  While no one expects to have an accident, you know your driving history; if you tend to have a fender-bender of some sort every few months, you will likely want to pay the minimum amount and let the insurance company take on the majority of costs. For safer drivers who have an excellent driving record, it makes sense to go with the higher deductible and pay lower premiums instead.

Questions to ask yourself
Every so often, make sure to review your auto insurance deductible and consider these two questions:
•    Has my household income changed since I set this deductible?
•    Does this deductible still reflect the amount of money I would be able to pay in the event of a claim?

Purchasing car insurance doesn’t have to be confusing. Take the time to go over the numbers and figure out what you would be able to afford out of pocket in case of an accident and how much you can afford to pay on a monthly basis. A little research can go a long way. It’s also helpful to speak with the auto insurance agent who can give you a good idea of what the norm would be for your car’s age and your driving experience.

kim zolciak : Which company offers cheap insurance for 17 year olds?

wpid Which company offers cheap insurance for 17 year olds1 e1319402275366 Which company offers cheap insurance for 17 year olds?

Response : Kim, the number of insurance companies offering teen car insurance are numerous. GEICO. Progressive, Elephant. All State, Esurance car insurance and others , If you have a 17 year old son or daughter who recently got their driver’s license, an important step in the driving process is to buy car insurance for the new driver. When you begin to look for car insurance, you will probably notice that rates for your teenager are much higher than they are for an older adult.

To compare car insurance rates for your teenager right now, just enter the zip code of where you reside into the space provided above.

Although carinsurance for 17 year olds other teens costs a lot of money, there are insurance companies that will offer insurance at lower rates. There are also other things that you can do to lower the premiums for your teenage driver.

The cost for teenagers when it comes to car insurance is much higher than for those individuals who are older and have good driving records. The biggest reason for this is because statistics show that teenagers have the highest rates of accidents and traffic violations. This results in higher costs for the insurance company in terms of accident damages and liability.

In order for insurance companies to survive, they need to pass these extra costs on to customers. Therefore, they charge higher premiums for those individuals or groups of people who are shown to be a high risk.

Another reason that teenagers have higher premiums is due to their credit history, or lack thereof. Insurance companies take into account a person’s credit rating when determining if they are eligible for car insurance and how much it will cost. In general, teenagers have not had the chance to build a credit history, which often goes against them in terms of insurance rates.

When searching for affordable insurance rates for your teenage driver, there are a few ways to go about it. First of all, you should determine what type of coverage is best for him or her. This means getting insurance coverage for exactly what is needed without getting coverage for things that are not. You can determine this by doing online research. You can also sit down with an insurance representative and have them analyze your insurnace needs.

Once you have decided what types of coverage your teen should have, you can start doing your insurance shopping. You can do this with local insurance companies and compare the different coverages and prices. You can also go online and search multiple insurance companies at one time.

The biggest thing that will help lower the car insurance premium of a teenager is time. Once the young driver turns 25, they will be considered a safer adult driver and their insurance rates will decrease. Until that time, there are a few things that will help keep a teenager’s insurance rate lower.

Many car insurance companies will offer discounts to help you save money on your premiums, and some of them benefit young drivers. If your teenager is a good student and gets a “B” average or greater, they will usually be able to take advantage of a good student discount. The reason for this is because insurance companies equate good students with those who are responsible drivers, so their chances of being in an accident are lower.

Another way your child can help lower their premiums is by taking a safe driving class. This may include a driver’s education class or a defensive driving class. Some states have certain courses that are eligible, so check with your state before your teen takes a teen driving course.. You can also find out your state’s regulations by going to the Insurance Information Institute’s website.

The older your teenager is when he or she starts driving, the cheaper their insurance will be. For most teenagers, the thought of waiting even longer to drive is unbearable, but if they are willing to (or if they are paying for their own insurance), they may choose to put off driving for a year or so in order to save a little money.

The type of vehicle the teenager drives may also help save money. If it is a vehicle with safety  features and anti-theft devices, it may help them save a bit on their premium.

Most States, but not legally require reporting, so it is on the whole, one has optional protection. The last insurance industry statistics show that an American of six drivers without any insurance cover and underinsured motorist is probably higher astronomical. If a underinsured driver ever applies, would you financially liable be significant for all damages that can’t pay its policy, and can this amount.
