Greg Coleman : : How does speeding affect teen auto insurance quote? What is a basic speed law in USA?

Teen auto insurance quote and speeding

Response : Let us first talk about how speeding affects teen auto insurance quote. Basically, teen auto insurance rates are kept higher than the normal auto insurance rates for other drivers by the very fact that teenagers or young drivers are involved in speeding and speeding lis more likely to lead to accidents.

However, once you have got an teen auto insurance quote, by comparing auto insurance quotes online which is very easy or offline- which might not give you all the options, the teen auto insurance quote is not going to be affected just by speeding, unless you are involved in an accident orget a speeding ticket. If either one of them happens than also your teen auto insurance quote will be higher and you would not get cheap teen auto insurance quotes unless you look up the quotes online. If you are involved in an accident and also get a speeding ticket, you would be paying much higher for teen auto insurance.

What is speeding?

Well, this is just reproducing something I have read since I am good at insurance but am not a traffic person.

“In most of the US, speed limit signs are posted which indicate the maximum and minimum rate of speed at which a motorist may travel in that designated “zone”. Individual states, provinces, or communities set the speed limit to suit their specific needs. Typical speed limits include a low limit for downtown driving, a higher one for highway driving, and a maximum speed for freeways and throughways. If no speed limit is posted where speed laws exist, national law should be used as a guideline: for example, if the motorist is driving on a two lane highway, the national speed limit for a highway should be complied with.

Specific wording of a basic speed law varies, but essentially it states that a motorist should not travel at an unsafe rate of speed given prevailing traffic conditions such as visibility, number of cars on the road, weather, or the type of road. In many cases, a basic speed law will also add that no driver should drive at a rate which would be considered reckless. Reckless driving is usually defined as a driving in a way which endangers life or property.

What a basic speed law means is that someone who is, for example, traveling at a posted speed limit during foggy weather could receive a speeding ticket. The citing officer could argue that the posted speed limit was not a safe rate of speed for the driving conditions. On the flip side, someone who was exceeding the posted speed limit on an open highway with no traffic and clear visibility could successfully beat a speeding ticket by arguing that the rate of speed was perfectly safe.

Most drivers are familiar with the concept of a “speed trap”, though they question the fairness of law enforcement agencies issuing a large amount of speeding tickets in areas where most of the traffic is exceeding the speed limit anyways. The issue appears to be whether or not a speed trap and subsequent large volume of tickets generated is for the greater cause of reducing speed and thus accidents, or to generate revenue for the municipality and reach ticket quotas.

I hope this helps in understanding speeding and how it would affect teen auto insurance quotes?

Teen auto insurance quotes and teen speeding.

Chris Lang : Teen auto insurance quotes and teen safety is a a great issue because teenagers like to speed. Should this be Oprah’s next campaign? Is there any way the teenagers would stop speeding?

Teen auto insurance quotes and speeding.

Response : Chris, I agree with you that we speeding is a great issue for teenagers and young drivers . Speeding is responsible for fatal death of teens and their friends. Those who see their friends death in front of their eyes are greatly affected emotionally and mentally and the auto accident leaves an ever lasting effect on their lifes.

As per the National Highway traffic safety association here are some statastics :
* Of all drivers aged 15-24 years of age involved in fatal crashes, 32 percent were speeding.

* Of drivers under age 21 involved in fatal crashes, 38 percent of the male and 24 percent of the female
drivers were speeding.

It is really suprising that teen girls are almost equally prone to speeding as the teenaged boys and what might suprise you more is that girls speeding are more likely to be involved in a fatal accident than the boys.

Here are some more facts on speeding in general :

*Sixty six percent of speed-related crashes involved a single vehicle.

* Sixty percent of all speed- related fatal crashes occurred at night (6 pm to 6 am).

* Drivers involved in speed-related fatal crashes are more likely to have a history of traffic violations.

* On average, 1,000 Americans are killed every month in speed-related crashes.

These facts are naturally very distrubing but unfortunately a reality. What I would like the teenagers and their parents to focus here is that night driving is something that should not be allowed and it is defienetly dangerous. Secondly, it is time we paid attention to the children incase they had some traffic violations, since this is an indication to us that something needs to be done for the teenager.

Naturally if speeding is there and accidents occur the teen auto insurance quotes would remain high and thus speeding and traffic violations need to stop to get cheap teen auto insurance and keep our teen safety. We want them to be safe and enjoy life to the fullest in a safe manner. They do hear our message and am sure they will put it into practice, after all they will be responsible and patient.

Thanks.
Kamlesh

Whitney : I am a teenager and naturally am looking for new auto insurance discounts to get cheap car insurance or cheap teen auto insurance quotes. What are some car insurance discounts that a teenager can look for and get?

Teen auto insurance : Cheap car insurance with auto insurance discounts

Response : Whitney, this is not only your question but a question which is for majority of the teenagers, young drivers and even any auto insurance buyer since auto insurance is an expense each of us wants to reduce and cannot curtail.

When ever you want to have discounts on insurance than you must focus on safety and risk management or loss control. The insurance company is willing to pass on a discount or savings if they can make a savings for themselves and savings as a reduction in claims is always welcomed by the insurance company.

Insurers offer discounts to encourage drivers to focus on safety. Here are some of the new auto insurance discounts. State Farm, for example, offers as much as a 15 percent discount for drivers under age 25 who complete a safe driving program. Other insurance companies also offer graduated driving discount but it would differ from state to state.

Progressive’s MyRate program is designed to benefit safe, defensive drivers. It offers a discount to drivers in 15 states who use a monitor in their vehicle that tracks mileage and times of the day the vehicle is used, along with driver behaviors such as how quickly the car speeds up and slows down. This can be a great help if the teenagers are focusing on improving their driving skills and abilities. The discount offered to new customers is 10 percent of their total auto insurance premium when they sign up for the first time. The renew discount is 25 %. In general, those who would benefit most from the program are low-mileage, defensive drivers who do most of their driving in daytime hours. Drivers who have poor driving habits such as hard braking and accelerating could end up paying a surcharge of up to 9 percent. At least two other companies are trying out similar programs.

At least two insurers offer insurance discounts to owners of “hybrid” cars, which combine a battery-powered engine with a traditional gas engine. One offers a 10 percent discount on all auto insurance coverages, except uninsured motorist and personal injury protection (PIP), basing the discount on the driver rather than on a safety device or safety training. According to the insurer, hybrid owners are less risky drivers than the average driver, based on demographics, driving records, credit data, marital status and driving patterns. The other insurer offers a 10 percent discount (5 percent in California) on all major coverages, including uninsured motorists and PIP. Farmer insuranace was the first to start this discount.

What you need to keep in mind is that the auto insurance discounts change as per the marketing strategies of the insurance company and also as per the changes in technology and industry as a whole. It is necessary to keep on looking out for new auto insurance discounts and also the existing ones like association discount, good grades, multiple cars discount, nultiple coverage discount and safety features discount. Yes with discounts you can certainly get cheap teen auto insurance quotes and get them right now. What are you waiting for.. you can get the cheap car insurance or cheap teen auto insurance quotes at teen auto ins quote.com without any spending.

Denise Wakeman : How does graduated licensing help in getting cheap car insurance for young drivers? What is the penalty and number of demerit points awarded if the teenagers or teen or young drivers indulge into night dirving?

Graduated licensing helps in getting cheap car insurance for young drivers or cheap teen auto insurance quotes.

Response : The laws that have been enacted to prevent the auto accidents have really proved to be for the benefit of the teenager, especially the dirvers between the age of 15-17 and have gone a long way in reducing and getting them cheap car insurance over a period of time.

Graduated licenising has been a leading reason for having the teenager really learn the motoring skills and have drastically brought down the rates of accidents. Since over these years the number of injuries and fatalities have decreased since this law was implemented the general auto insurance have faced less expenses, which have given cheap teen auto insurance rates.

It has been observed that where the laws were rated good had 30 percent lower fatal crash rates among 15-17 year-olds have reduced. Where the graduated Laws were rated fair yielded fatal crash rates 11 percent lower.

Secondly it was also observed that where the longer the permit age was delayed, or the longer the licensing age was delayed, the lower the estimated fatal crash rates among 15-17 year-olds.

Thirdly, the stronger nighttime restrictions were associated with larger reductions, and reductions were larger for laws limiting teenage passengers to zero or one than laws allowing two or more teenage passengers or laws without passenger restrictions.

After the effects of any related delay in licensure were accounted for, an increase in the minimum learner’s permit holding period showed no effect on fatal crash rates. An increase in required practice driving hours did not appear to have an independent effect on fatal crash rates.

It has been concluded that graduated licensing laws that include strong nighttime and passenger restrictions and laws that delay the learner’s permit age and licensing age are highly effective strategies for reducing teenage fatal crashes. States that adopt such laws can expect to achieve substantial reductions in crash deaths.

The number of demerits points for night driving are about 1 for restrictions over a period of 1 year.

It would be best to talk to your teen or young driver and explain them the advantages of the graduated licensing. You might be suprised but they are the one’s who are following most of the regulations and laws in schools and at home, they wl certainly think about their own safety and security and most importantly getting cheap car insurance or cheap teen auto insurance quotes.

Thanks.

Brad Fallon : I am really suprised over the fact that Teen drivers in New Jersey are supposed to display identying decals on their vehicle license plates. What if the parents are driving the vehicle? Is being held for not having a sticker going to increase the teen auto insurance qoute?

Teen auto insurance or car insurance
Response ; Let us first talk about the implication of this law from the point of auto insurance or car insurance for young drivers or teenagers, the fact that the sticker is not there would not be an issue or reason for increasing auto insurance rates or asking for higher premiums. The fact is that teenagers are classified as high risk is the reason for the higher premiums. The solution for this is compare, compare and compare auto insurance quote to get cheap auto insurance.

Yes, this is a recent judgement where in the Judge upheld a new law that requires drivers younger than 21 to display identifying decals on their vehicle license plates, as on 10th March 2010.

This law of having a sticker to identify a teen driver or young driver was passed on the 1st May, was challenged byGregg Trautmann, a Rockaway lawyer. As per the arguments put up it was stated that this would encourage the police and other persons to pick up on the teens.

The judge stated that the “operating a motor vehicle is not a right, it’s a privilege subject to state regulations.”

This law is named as “Kyleigh’s Law,” in April 2009. It’s named for Kyleigh D’Alessio of Long Valley, a 16-year-old honor student killed in a December 2006 crash

There is a lot of disatisfaction, naturally from the teens and even parents, who feel that this should than apply for all high risk drivers, over 65+, drunk driving drivers, agressive drivers and any person who has a bad driving record.

Thanks.
