Teen auto insurance

Justin Laverile : What kind of car should I look into buying right now? I am still not 18 years old and this is my first time looking to buy a car. Like most guys my age I’m looking for a cool looking car (sports-car-ish), but at the same time I want to avoid the expensive auto insurance that comes with a car like a corvette.

What car to buy for getting cheap inexpensive auto insurance :

Response : Justin, you are thinking in the right direction of wanting to get cheap auto inusrance or inexpensive auto insurance, since the car is one of the main factor on which your auto insurance rating is going to depend upon. It is obviously no secret that teen auto insurance is expensive and hence every effort should be made to get cheap auto insurance rates.

Let me also tell you that the insurance companies jointly are conducted research and gathering data on the safe cars and each year a list of safe cars are declared by the NHSTA and you can get the list from my blog post ” Safe cars of 2009

The insurance companies would provide cheap car insurance quotes for these cars since they are sure that these cars are safe. Please note that the general insurance companies have a basic rate for these cars and on this the loading for the driving history, the geographical area of operation and other loadings are applied. When you choose a car which is considered safe you are cutting down your basic auto insurance rate. This is huge.

The other reason why you should choose the most appropriate car is for your own safety. Your own safety and security is more important than even inexpensive auto insurance. The safe cars give you your safety and security.

Yes, getting a sports car is the dream of any young person at the magic age between 16-25 and this can be easily realized by you if first you chose a safe car which has inexpensive insurance and so you can build up your good driving history. Once you have a good driving history you can go for the sports car and still pay almost the same auto insurance rate since you will get a better rate now due to your established good driving history.

Hope this has been very helpful. Looking forward for your feedback and keeping this moving.

Happy Motoring.
Thanks.

Brett : How do I insure my teenage driver obtaining cheap auto insurance and ensure safety of my teenager?

Response : Yes safe auto driving would definetly give you a low safe auto insurance and also ensure the safety of your child. As soon as your teenager begins to drive, notify your insurance agent that there will be an additional driver in the house. Since teenagers are inexperienced drivers, they tend to get into a lot of accidents. This will, unfortunately, be reflected in higher insurance rates. If you have a daughter, you can expect your insurance to go up as much as 50 percent. A son will increase your car insurance by as much as 100 percent. Consider also raising liability limits or buying an umbrella liability policy for additional protection.
Secondly, pick up a safe car. The type of car a young person drives can dramatically affect the price of insurance. You and your teenager should choose a car that is easy to drive and would offer protection in the event of a crash. You should avoid small cars and those with high performance images that might encourage speed and recklessness. Trucks and SUVs should also be avoided, since they are more prone to rollovers. Third and most important, talk to them about safe driving.Driving safely will not only keep your son or daughter alive and healthy, it will also save money. As your teenager gets older, insurance rates will drop–providing he or she has a good driving record. Talk to your teen about the dangers of combining driving with alcohol, lack of sleep and distractions.

Last but not least enroll them in a graduate driving school or institute these lessons yourself so that the teenager learns of safe auto driving and also ensures his own safety as well as those around him.

Brandon : I am a teenaged boy and I am very anxious for my son and the increase in car insurance premiums since the teenager’s premium is high. What should I do to get cheap car insurance rate?

Teen auto insurance quote

Response : Your apprehension and worry for a young driver are not unfounded on the grounds of injury and high premiums. Facts prove that both this are true – teens are prone to accidents and also the  parents’ insurance policy can raise car insurance rates 50 to 100 percent with inclusion of a teenaged driver.

The fact that you have realized this and are willing  to go the extra mile will help you minimize the financial impact, keeping the teen auto insurance quotes low and also be safe. Here are a few clues:

  • Tying safety belt – to ensure protection.
  • Keeping the number of auto passengers to minimum. Multiple passengers increase the risk for accidents by three to five times and liability is high in case of accidents.
  • Speeding should be avoided at all cost. Speeding is the one of the main cause for teen accidents.
  • Avoid driving when drunk, under influence of drugs or intoxicated.
  • Talking on phone or sending messages when one is driving needs to be stopped.
  • If you know that your friend is a reckless driver avoiding rides with him and speaking up would help reduce the risk.

If teenagers can weigh risk, are mature and good at judgments they can prevent accidents and save on premiums. Follow the rules, drive with care and keep your insurance premium low.
